When does my plan start?

Your plan activates the first time you use data at your destination. Installing the eSIM before your trip does not start the timer.

Can I use hotspot / tethering?

Yes, all our plans include hotspot sharing so you can connect a laptop or tablet to your eSIM data.

Is my phone compatible?

Most iPhones from XR (2018) onwards and Samsung Galaxy S20+ support eSIM. Check the compatibility tab above or visit our full compatible devices list.

How do I install the eSIM?

After purchase you receive a QR code by email. Scan it in your phone's settings (Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM) or use our app for one-tap installation.

Does an eSIM drain my battery faster?

No. An eSIM behaves like a physical SIM — battery drain depends on signal strength and data usage, not on the SIM type.

What if I run out of data?

You can purchase a top-up or a new plan at any time from your account dashboard — no need to buy a new eSIM.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes. You can request a full refund within 6 months of purchase if the eSIM was never activated.

Are there any hidden fees or roaming charges?

None. The price you see at checkout is what you pay — no roaming surcharges, no activation fees, no surprises on your carrier bill.

24/7 support — how do I reach you on safari?

Our team is on WhatsApp and email 24/7. Message us anytime and we typically reply within minutes, even in remote lodge areas.

I lost my QR code — what now?

Your QR code stays available in your Safari eSIM account under "My eSIMs". Log in from any device to reinstall it — no re-purchase needed.

I have no signal on safari — what should I do?

Toggle airplane mode on and off, then check Settings → Cellular → Data Roaming is ON. Deep bush areas naturally have no coverage — signal usually returns near the lodge or main gate.

About the Africa eSIM

An Africa eSIM gives you one digital SIM that covers 40+ African countries, connecting to networks including Safaricom, Vodacom, MTN and Airtel — install before departure, keep your home number active, and choose flexible or unlimited data depending on your route. It's designed for travelers whose itinerary crosses more than one country, rather than settling on a single-destination plan and hoping it's enough once you cross a border. Whether you're combining a Kenya safari with a Cape Town stopover or working your way through several countries on one trip, one eSIM profile carries you across all of them.

Coverage across 40+ African countries on one eSIM

Connects to Safaricom, Vodacom, MTN, Airtel and other major networks

Flexible fixed-data or unlimited plans, from single-day to month-long trips

Digital setup — no store visit, no local registration

Keep your primary SIM active for calls and SMS on dual-SIM devices

Backed by a money-back guarantee and 24/7 AI-plus-human support

Countries covered by the Africa eSIM

The Africa eSIM covers more than 40 countries on the continent, including Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Egypt, Morocco and Nigeria — designed for travelers whose itinerary crosses more than one country rather than staying in a single destination for the whole trip. If you know you're only visiting one country, a dedicated single-country eSIM for that destination will often work out better value than the multi-country plan, since regional coverage is priced for the flexibility of crossing borders.

East Africa coverage

East African destinations covered include Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia — a common combination for safari-and-gorilla-trekking itineraries that cross two or three countries in one trip, such as a Kenya-Tanzania Great Migration circuit or a Uganda-Rwanda gorilla trekking route that crosses the border partway through.

Southern Africa coverage

Southern African destinations covered include South Africa, Botswana and Namibia, useful for Cape Town-to-Kruger road trips or Southern Africa safari circuits that span more than one country in a single overland or fly-in itinerary without needing a separate SIM at each stop.

Checking country availability before travel

Coverage depends on the plan and the supported local networks in each destination — confirm your specific countries are included and the plan type matches your usage before you buy, especially if your itinerary extends beyond the main countries listed above into a less-common destination not covered by every plan tier.

Africa eSIM plans

Plans range from a single day up to a full month, in both fixed-data and unlimited-data options — pick based on trip length, expected daily usage, and how many countries you're visiting. Unlike a local SIM you'd need to replace at each border, one Africa eSIM plan carries over as you cross into any of the covered countries, without a new activation each time.

Choosing data duration and allowance

A short single-country trip with light use fits a smaller fixed-data plan, while longer or multi-country itineraries with regular navigation, messaging and photo uploads are usually better matched to a longer-duration or unlimited plan — review the exact allowance and validity window at checkout before you buy so there are no surprises mid-trip.

Is unlimited data right for your trip?

Unlimited data suits travelers who use maps and navigation frequently, work remotely while traveling, join video or voice calls, upload photos and video often, or don't want to track a data balance across multiple countries. A smaller fixed-data plan is enough if you only need occasional messaging and light browsing between destinations.

Coverage and network performance

Coverage depends on the plan and the supported local networks in each destination. Major cities, airports, business districts and popular tourist areas typically have stronger connectivity than remote rural regions, so it helps to think about your route in those terms rather than assuming uniform coverage across an entire country.

Cities, airports and travel routes

Capital cities, business hubs and main tourist routes across the covered countries generally have the strongest and most consistent connectivity, including at airports for arrival navigation, rideshare apps and hotel check-in confirmations the moment you land.

National parks, islands and remote areas

If your itinerary includes national parks, deserts, mountains, islands or long overland transfers, expect network availability to vary more than it does in cities — download offline maps and any essential documents for those specific stretches before you set out, rather than assuming you'll have signal to look them up along the way.

Set up your multi-country eSIM

Setup is digital from start to finish: check device compatibility, install the eSIM profile from the QR code delivered after purchase, then activate once you land in your first destination country. On iPhone this is under Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code; on Android it's usually Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > Add eSIM, though the exact wording varies by manufacturer.

Device compatibility and installation

Your phone or tablet needs to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked — carrier-locked devices may not accept travel eSIMs. Installation is a QR code scan or manual activation, following the instructions delivered after purchase, and takes only a couple of minutes from start to finish.

Activation, APN and switching networks

In your device's settings, select the eSIM as your mobile data line and enable roaming for it if the plan requires it. Activation may begin at installation or once the eSIM connects to a supported network at your first destination, so check the plan rules before you install — your phone will then switch between the covered countries' networks automatically as you cross borders, the same way it already hands off between towers at home.

Africa eSIM versus roaming

International roaming from your home carrier is often expensive, with daily fees or surprise charges appearing on your bill after the trip — a pre-purchased Africa eSIM gives you control because you choose your plan and its cost before you ever use it, not after.

Cost and convenience comparison

Compared to roaming or buying local SIMs in every country you visit, one Africa eSIM avoids physical SIM swaps at each border, lets you install before travel for connectivity from the moment you arrive, and removes the need to register or queue at a mobile store in each destination along your route.

Keeping your home number and using hotspot

On dual-SIM and eSIM-compatible devices, keep your primary SIM installed for calls and SMS while the Africa eSIM handles mobile data — your home number stays reachable for banking codes and messages throughout the trip, and hotspot sharing to other devices works as normal on supported plans wherever you have signal.

Does this eSIM include unlimited data?

Unlimited data options may be available depending on the destination and plan you select. Review the plan details at checkout to confirm the data allowance, validity, and any fair-use policy that applies.

Can I use the Africa eSIM for calls and texts?

Most travel eSIMs are data-only unless the plan specifically states otherwise. You can still use internet-based calling and messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, FaceTime and Telegram over mobile data.

Can I keep my normal phone number active?

Yes. On dual-SIM and eSIM-compatible devices you can keep your primary SIM for calls and SMS while the Africa eSIM handles mobile data. Your home number stays reachable for banking codes and messages.

When should I install the eSIM?

It's best to install your eSIM before you travel, while connected to reliable Wi-Fi. Some plans start validity at installation and others once your device connects to a supported network at your destination — check the plan rules before installing.

What happens if I travel outside the coverage area?

Your eSIM only works in destinations included in the plan. If your itinerary extends beyond the coverage list, you'll need a separate country plan or a broader regional plan.

Is an Africa eSIM better than airport Wi-Fi?

Airport Wi-Fi is often slow, time-limited or unavailable when you need it most. An eSIM gives you a personal, secure mobile data connection from the moment your device reaches a supported network.

Is unlimited data really unlimited?

Unlimited-style plans generally include a fair-use policy and speed management after a certain threshold, which is common across the industry. Always review the plan conditions before purchase.
